Nubra Sand dunes

Nubra Sand dunes

Nubra Valley, situated in the north of Ladakh, is a breathtaking destination known for its majestic peaks, glaciers, enchanting valleys, and villages. The valley is home to the highest motorable road, Khardongla pass, and offers various attractions like Diskit and Samstanling Gonpa, Panamik hot spring, double humped camel safari, river rafting, trekking, and sand dunes at Hunder. Nubra, also known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers, lies at an average altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level. The valley is fertile and has thicker vegetation than other areas of Ladakh. The Shayok and Siachan rivers form a large drain in Nubra, making it a broad valley with lofty mountains on all sides. Diskit is the sub-division headquarters, and the valley assumes greater attractions where the two rivers meet. Nubra has a rich history and served as a major halt for caravans traveling the traditional silk route.
