Zanskar valley

Zanskar valley

Zanskar Valley, located in Ladakh, is a remote and isolated region, cut off from the world for eight months due to the Penzi La blockade. It is one of the least interfered with microcosms of Ladakh and a last surviving cultural settler of Tibet. The valley is spread over 5,000 and is home to several ancient monasteries, including Sani Gonpa, Karsha Gompa, Stongde Monastery, Burdan Monastery, Phugtal Gompa, and Zangkul Gompa. These monasteries showcase the rich cultural heritage of Zanskar and offer a glimpse into its preserved traditions. The region still practices polyandry, a system almost extinct in other parts of Ladakh. Zanskar's isolation has helped maintain its unique cultural identity, making it a fascinating destination for travelers. The valley is surrounded by permafrost mountains and offers breathtaking views, camping sites, and trekking opportunities, making it a paradise for adventure seekers.
