Balidan Stambh

Balidan Stambh, a majestic memorial situated in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, stands as a poignant tribute to the valiant soldiers and policemen who laid down their lives defending India's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Constructed by the Indian Army in 2009 at a cost of ₹130 million, this 60-meter-high monument is shaped like a soldier's rifle, symbolizing strength and courage. The memorial honors 4,877 martyrs, with their names inscribed on 52 pillars across the country. Notably, 543 soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War are also commemorated, including 71 bravehearts from Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, the memorial pays tribute to over 15,000 personnel from the military, paramilitary, and police who have lost their lives in the ongoing fight against militancy in the region. Balidan Stambh serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by India's bravehearts and their unwavering commitment to protecting the nation.
