Samba Fort

Perched atop a small hillock, just half a kilometer off National Highway 1A and 37 kilometers from Jammu, Samba Fort commands a strategic position overlooking the serene River Basantar. According to historical accounts, the fort was initially constructed by the Raja of Mandi, Naga Raja Goureoen, and later reinforced by Ranjit Singh in 1822 on the foundations of the old fort.
This ancient stronghold has witnessed the rise and fall of empires, and its significance extends beyond its military importance. In 1905, Maharaja Pratap Singh generously donated the fort to the education department, which now houses a school, fostering knowledge and growth within its historic walls.
With its commanding view and rich history, Samba Fort stands as a testament to the region's cultural and architectural heritage, inviting visitors to explore its storied past."
