The Umasi La/Omasi La trek is a spectacular route that serves as the southern entrance to Zanskar, situated in the Great Himalayan Range between Kishtwar and Zanskar. The trek begins in Gulabgarh and passes through oak and conifer forests, traditional villages, and beautiful meadows. It crosses Machail, where Buddhist culture becomes apparent, and Suncham, before ascending to the hanging valley and crossing the glacier to reach Umasi La/Omasi La. The trek then descends steeply to Dzonkhul Gompa road head, where you'll be driven to Ating and Padum. This challenging trek offers breathtaking views and a unique cultural experience.
