Apati

Apati is a village in Kargil district, Ladakh, located 19 km east of Kargil, near the India-Pakistan border. It lies in the Sod Valley, on the banks of the Tumel Lungpa stream, along the Kargil-Batalik Road. The village is notable for its proximity to Apati Chamba, an ancient Maitreya Buddha statue carved into a mountain cliff between the 7th-11th centuries. This historic site makes Apati a significant cultural and tourist destination in the region. The village's scenic location and rich heritage attract visitors seeking to explore Ladakh's natural beauty and spiritual heritage.
