Sheesh mahal

Sheesh Mahal, constructed between 1932 and 1936 AD, was the most modern building of the Poonch principality during the Dogra period. Raja Jagat Dev Singh (1927-1940) commissioned this magnificent structure, which was a symbol of pride for the Rajas of Poonch. It was the first palace built with modern architecture and was dedicated to Rani Attlia, the wife of Raja Sukhdev Singh (1918-1926), who had passed away at the age of 26 in 1926.
After 1947, the building was occupied by the Army until 1976, when it was handed over to the civil administration. Currently, the Girls Higher Secondary School is located in this palace. Unfortunately, the building has become unsafe due to damage caused by the 2005 earthquake, and it requires urgent restoration to preserve its historical significance.
