Gangabal Lake, also known as Haramukh Ganga
Location:
At the foot of Mount Haramukh in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India
Description:
Alpine high-altitude oligotrophic lake
Size:
Maximum length of 2.5 kilometers (1.6 miles) and maximum width of 1 kilometer (0.62 miles)
Water Sources:
Fed by precipitation, glaciers and springs
Marine Life:
Home to many species of fish, including brown trout

Water Outflow:
Water from the lake outflows into the nearby Nundkol Lake and then into the Sind River via Wangath Nallah
Religious Significance:
Considered sacred in Hinduism as one of the abodes of Shiva
Pilgrimage:
Kashmiri Hindus perform an annual pilgrimage to the lake called Harmukh-Gangabal Yatra
