AshtBhuja Mata mandir Sarthal

AshtBhuja Mata mandir Sarthal

The Kishtwar Sarthal Mata temple, nestled in the picturesque hills of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, is a revered shrine dedicated to the goddess Durga. Originally constructed from stone by local devotees under the patronage of Raja Agar Dev, the temple was later renovated in 1936 by Maharaja Hari Singh using wood from the Dayalwan and Deviyun-van forests. Situated at an elevation of approximately 6,000 feet, the temple is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and is often blanketed with snow during the winter months. From its vantage point, one can behold a stunning panorama of the PirPanjal Range, with several peaks visible in the distance. As the chief deity of Hindus in the region, Sarthal Mata is deeply revered and attracts devotees from far and wide.
