Shiva Avantishvara Temple and AwantiSwami Temple are significant ancient temples in Jammu and Kashmir built during the reign of King Awantivarman, the founder of the Utpala dynasty in the 9th century CE. Here are the key details:

Shiva Avantishvara Temple
Location: Awantipura town, Pulwama district, situated on the right bank of the Jhelum River.
Architectural Features:
The temple base is approximately 10 inches high.
The pilaster base is intricately decorated with:
Two seated rams.
A dancing girl holding a damaru, standing on an ornate throne.
Two lions on the sides and an elephant motif in the middle.
The shrine is largely mutilated.
These temples, though in ruins, reflect the grandeur of Kashmiri temple architecture and hold immense historical and cultural significance.
