Diskit Monastery, situated in the Nubra Valley at an altitude of 10,308 feet, is a prominent tourist attraction. The monastery is home to a 106 feet Maitreya Buddha statue and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The interiors of the monastery feature intricate frescoes, wall paintings, and a prayer hall with enormous drums and images of Buddhist guardian deities. The storehouse preserves numerous Mongolian and Tibetan religious texts, and the Lachung Temple, located above the monastery, houses a large idol of Tsong Khapa, the founder of the Gelugpa sect of Buddhism. The monastery also offers stunning views of the Diskit Village and is believed to be one of the oldest temples in the Nubra Valley.
