Zyestha Mata Temple

Zyestha Mata, also known as Zeashta, is a revered goddess in Kashmiri Hinduism. Her origin dates back to the churning of the ocean of milk, when Lord Shiva created her to defeat the Asuras and free Goddess Lakshmi from their captivity. With Lord Shiva’s divine force, Zyestha Mata and ViraVaitala successfully accomplished their task and were bestowed with the power to protect and uplift mankind. Her shrine, located in Srinagar, is a sacred site where devotees seek her blessings and protection. According to tradition, offering cooked yellowish rice (tehar) on Thursdays during the month of Zyesth is believed to bring uninterrupted grace and protection from the goddess. This ancient temple is considered a place for attaining spiritual growth, prosperity, and enlightenment in all aspects of life. Devotees worship Zyestha Mata with great reverence, seeking her guidance and blessings.
